Presidential Medal of Freedom Recipient Gardner C. Taylor
Recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, Taylor’s voice has been a source of inspiration for generations of civil rights activists. He is the senior pastor emeritus of the Concord Baptist Church of Christ in Brooklyn, N.Y. Widely known as a preacher, teacher, lecturer and writer, Taylor has been recognized as one of the nation’s 15 Greatest Black Preachers by “Ebony” magazine.
The Rev. Gardner Taylor, an author and early civil rights supporter, has been called the "dean of the nation's black preachers." Under his leadership, his church, Concord Baptist Church of Christ in New York City, became the most prestigious black church in America.
