The United States and the world bid former U.S. President Ronald Reagan farewell as five days of memorial ceremonies commence in California Monday, June 7, 2004.

Reagan's flag-draped casket is carried by an honor guard from the funeral home on its way to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library for public viewing.


The honor guard carries the former president's casket into his presidential library in Simi Valley, California.


Before the public viewing began, there was a brief private service for the Reagan family. At its conclusion, Nancy Reagan leaned in and rested her head on her husband’s casket.

After the library opens to the public, people walk past the casket and pay Ronald Reagan their last respects. The public viewing ends at 6 p.m. PT (9 p.m. ET) Tuesday, June 8, 2004.
